| Operation Genesis - An OSW Group Project |
Introduction
Suffix to say this was one of the first large scale group project I've ever participated on OSW, and it was such a blast to be part of it. Concept itself was conceived by two incredibly talented members: Yujin(Eugene) & S-Ramos(Sergio), with generous assistance from Cpl Ho & Crazy Chocobo.

Scenario

Web of Interests
On the 14th of June, in a quiet suburb near the city of Lille, France, a girl is snatched from the streets by five unknown individuals in a Mercedes van. The girl is Marion Dubois, the 18 year old daughter of Dr Jansson Dubois. Dr Dubois is the chief director of the Operations Division in the Interpol. The girl has been taken hostage by a group of extremely well-trained mercenaries under the payroll of very well-connected and powerful corrupt political leaders from leading G8 countries. These political figures call themselves the Chimeras.
The main reason for the abduction is that Interpol activities have recently been interdicting activities and dealings connected to the Chimeras, thus threatening to uncover the whole web of corrupt dealings and political leaders. These include activities, drug and money laundering, illegal weapons trading and human smuggling among other things. Given the magnitude of this particular case, Director Dubois has also been assigned to be the overall head in charge of the Chimeras case.
Owing to the influence of the Chimeras, the Interpol itself has been compromised. While those in the service of the Chimeras were unable to gain access to the upper echelons of Interpol, some of them were placed high enough to compromise the security details of the directors, leading eventually to the abduction of Marion. The aim of having the director’s daughter in hand is so that the Chimeras can have a bargaining chip in order to "persuade" Dubois and hence, Interpol to cease interfering with the Chimeras. The group has given Dubois 72 hours to respond.
DuBois is understandably torn between preserving the life of his daughter and serving the greater good. A realist, he knows of the risks involved. His daughter may not live to see him again even if he does do the impossible and agree to the demands. Interpol has taken a two-pronged approach - maintaining negotiations while at the same time, planning for a hostage rescue operation.

Red Ravens
A little known fact even within Interpol is that there exists a crack unit similar to the FBI’s HRT. Known as the Red Ravens, this crack Interpol unit is composed of highly-trained individuals from special forces around the globe. The world’s best special operations people are thus gathered under one international umbrella to form the Red Ravens.
Despite the best efforts of the Chimeras to keep secret the location of Marion, within the span of 56 hours, intelligence gathered by field agents have pin-pointed her location to a small village in the mountainous region of Slovakia, near the town of Propad. Upon notification, the Red Ravens were placed on alert, and deployed for possible action. Marion in the mean time had only 16 more hours before the Chimeras sent her back to her father… in a body bag.
Insertion
Insertion will be done in various ways. The assault team will be delivered via non-descript vans. In the meantime, field intel agents will act as backpackers so as to throw off any suspicion by Chimeras agents in the Slovakian village. Team Snipers will be inserted via helo a distance away from the target site, and will travel on foot to the hostage location and establish an observation post.

Only the highest Slovak officials are in the know about this. There are elements within the Slovakian govenment that have officials that have ties to the Chimeras as well. Secrecy is thus the mantra, otherwise the operation and hostage would be compromise. As such, local Slovak police presence around the village have been pulled back and re-deployed to Propad, ensuring that the Red Ravens will be able to operate without interference. A successful operation would also mean that the Slovakian government will be able to purge it of Chimeras operatives.

Enemy Strength
Intercepted messages put the merc forces at about 30 plus at least. Many of the mercs have served in various armed and police forces around the world. Previously the Law is who they answered to. Now, it is simply about the money.
About half of them are in the house itself, while the other half are tasked to conduct perimeter patrols. The mercs are also equipped with pretty much the latest in terms of firepower. There are suspected emplacements within the house itself, in the range of 2 x .50 Cal M2 Browning Machine Guns.
Expected weather conditions
Expect heavy rain. It is alnost summer in Slovakia, and this is the wettest period of the year. Slovakia is located in an areas whereby the warm air from the Equator meets the cold air of the Arctic. The resulting collision of the warm and cold front results in persistent frontal rain. Thunderstorms can also be expected. Wet weather preparation is thus a must.
Issue of legitimacy
On the question of legitimacy, technically, given that the senior officials in the Slovakian government has given this op the green light, as such, this would not be considered deniable. If there should be any unexpected developments, the Red Ravens come under the aegis of Interpol. Given that the organization is a recognised and legitimate entity in Slovakia, and having been given the green light by those few senior officials in the Slovakian government, this operation will thus not be considered to be deniable.
What would be tricky however, is trying to ensure that the local authorities on the ground do not get in the way, nor be alerted to Red Raven's presence. For that, intel agents on the ground will come up with something to ensure that such a development will as far as possible not occur.

Some trespassing photo-journalist wired this blurry photo on the right to the news media, showing two operators running into the woods during the execution of the rescue ops. He was chased down and detained by the perimeter security team while attempting to flee in his Toyota Hi-Lux truck. Unfortunately he emailed out the photo before we can destroy his memory card. Despite their strong protest, several mainstream news media outlets which have received the wire were warned with severe legal consequences if they proceed to publish and air the image on the evening news.
