Kerberos history
The main duty of the Kerberos is to handle various terrorist groups, with the one of the most influential organization known as the Sect, and keep the matter as a police issue to avoid bring the military into the fray. As a result, the Capital Police report to the National Public Safety Commission. In the stories, as the country stabilizes from political upheaval and looks to peace and economic prosperity, the anti-government groups and the Kerberos anti-riot units become more and more isolated from the people. The Kerberos known for their brutal tactics, while having served the country during its troubling times, no longer have a place in the new police organization and are to be eliminated by the government.
After an incident in which a terrorist leader is killed to avoid having him enter police custody, the Kerberos unit is ordered to be disarmed and disbanded. However, the unit refuses the order, sequesters itself in the Unit headquarters, and fights the police, holding out for days before the military was called in. This siege is known as the "Kerberos Uprising". Many of the unit are killed or arrested, save the leader of the uprising, Koichi Todome, who escapes and leaves Japan. Other exiled Kerberos become refugees in Taiwan, the closest island to Japan.
Kerberos Panzer Cops part one and Jin-Roh cover the days of the Kerberos unit before the uprising and the political machinations that result in the rebellion, while the The Red Spectacles and StrayDog films encompass the reappearance of Koichi Todome in Japan, and the reasons for his return.
The Kerberos Uprising episode is covered briefly in the live-action films and is exposed in Kerberos Panzer Cops part two and its sequel Kerberos Saga Rainy Dogs. Both volumes were never translated in English but are available in several Asian countries.

Metropolitan Security Police Organization
Shutoken chian keisatsu kikoh: often shortened to Shutokei is the third Japanese armed forces together with the Self-Defense Force and the Self-Police. "Metropolitan Police" and its initials "M.P." are used as official translation in the English-language written synopsis available in all Kerberos Panzer Cop Japanese editions - as well as in the licensed versions published in Asia in the 2000s. The original version of Jin-Roh, released in Europe one year prior to Japan, translates the synopsis term as "POSEM" (contraction of "POlice de SÉcurité Métropolitaine"), French for "Metropolitan Security Police". However the English language anime version kept the manga's 1994 English adaptation - Hellhounds - with "CAPO" (for "CApital POlice") rather than "Metropolitan Security Police". Also Hauptstadtpolizei (shortened to Polizei), the German term for "Capital Police", is used as an additional emblem on the M.P.'s aerial reconnaissance helicopter Fa-330.

<Cerberus Insurrection> is an original concept photo story loosely based on the Kerberos universe. I twisted the official timeline significantly. This time instead of WW2 era weapons & equipment, the team has more modern hardwares, uniforms & vehicles as oppose to the official plot. The infamous "Kerberos riot" would not happen for another few years. Terrorist group known as The Sect was still doing running battles with Capitol Police's elite special armed mobile security units, known simply as <Kerberos>. The setting revolves around 3rd assault platoon, sister unit of Midori Washio,Totome Koichi & Toribe Soichiro's 1st Assault Platoon. The scene starts with a hostage incident where armed Sect members have stormed the Ministry of Finance's regional office tower somewhere in Tokyo, and hold up on the 31st floor. After refusing to surrender and several hostages were killed as a result of the standoff, Capitol Police decided to mount an air & ground assault with their Kerberos platoons.
Based on intel feeds from forward recon elements, sniper teams will neutralize rooftop MANPAD assets before the main air element arrive in their tilt-rotors. Ground assault team will launch their own assault to distract hostage-takers' attention while the two tilt-rotors which ferry the assault teams will land on the rooftop under the escorts of a pair of attack helicopters. Once on the ground , rooftop teams will split up and work their way down to the 31st floor. Expected causalities is minimal. Once the initial operation ceases, Capitol Police's secondary elements will be deployed to commence mop up ops on the financial tower and it's surrounding infrastructures. |
